Dolly Madison was somewhat similar to Abigail Adams.   Their family lives were very dissimilar.   Their educational and business lives were somewhat similar.   Their occupational lives were somewhat different.   Dolly Madison was very different from Abigail Adams in their public life but their contributions were very similar.
      Their eras were somewhat close together.   Dolly Madison’s timeframe was 1768 to 1849. Abigail Adam’s timeframe was1744 to 1818.   Dolly was 24 years younger and lived for another 31 years past Abigail.
      They started life in much different ways.
      Their family lives were very dissimilar. Dolly Madison was born in Guilford County, North Carolina.   Abigail Adams was born in Weymouth, Province of Massachusetts Bay.  
    Dolly Madison had 7 siblings, herself being 4th born out of the 8.   Abigail had two sisters, she was the middle child.  
    Dolly Madison’s family wealth and position were different than Abigail Adams.   Dolly was born into the Quaker faith. Her father was a planter then opened a laundry business except it failed.   After her father died, her mother for a short time opened her home to boarders.   Her family often struggled to make ends meet.      
    Abigail‘s family wealth and position were quite prominent.   She came from a long line of highly respected leaders in the religious community and prominent blood lines.   On her mother’s side, they were a well known political family.   Abigail has a strong belief in one Lord and lives by the belief of mutual caring, to celebrate life, offer service and work for a better world.
    Other family background comparisons are that both ladies married in their early twenties.   In their early adult years, both Dolly and Abigail were introduced to men with political involvement.   Dolly gave birth to two children but only one survived.   Abigail over a ten year period, gave birth to six children, but only five survived.   Dolly’s first husband was five years older than her and...
