Introduction
Capulet is protective to his daughter because he wants the best for her; he respects her as long as she respects him. He cares for her, he shows discipline to her. This quote suggests “my child is yet a stranger in the world, she hath not seen change of fourteen years; Let two more summers wither in their pride, ere we may think her ripe to be bride.’’ This quote proves he cares for Juliet he doesn’t want Juliet to marry early because he thinks that she is still young to marry Paris and he thinks that she isn’t out of childhood yet to be a bride. He is also sometimes interfering, commanding, controlling, very violent person with a short temper. This quote conveys “Hang thee, young baggage, disobedient wretch!” this shows that he can be very violent sometimes.
In act 1 Juliet appears as the dutiful daughter; she is obviously influenced by her parents who care for her and love her, she is a very obedient daughter, she looks very innocent from the outside and she listen to her parents. This quote suggests “madam, I am here, what is your will?” this quote shows that Juliet has respect for her parents and is an obedient daughter. However, when she meets Romeo, her reaction is willful and demanding. Later, in the ‘balcony scene’ we see her being romantic, truthful and wilful. She became livelier.
