Men are often hired over women, and men make more money than women. Fewer women work in the fields of math and science than men. While females may not work in the math and science fields or make as much money as men in other fields, through this study, females proved to be just as capable as males, in fact, more so, in the ability to retain information. Because of short- term memory’s relation to spatial, logical, and working memory this experiment proves to be a significant study in hopefully breaking down gender barriers in the work force. Gender Differences in Short-Term Memory Comparing males and females is a natural occurrence: it occurs in the work force as well as in everyday happenings.
2.) t = −3.15 describes the difference between women and men for what variable in this study? Is this value significant? t= -3.15 describes the difference between men and women for the variable of mental health. This value is significant because 0.002 is less than the alpha type 1 error rate of 0.05 that was used.
Despite the fact that girls do better than boys at school, boys have higher expectations and higher self esteem than girls, a gap that continues with each year of schooling. Does this finding conform with your own experience? How would you explain this? 4. Make up two lists—what women can do to prevent rape and what men can do.
That is not to say that there is not a sense of equality, but based on my personal observations a female has the tendency to be more capable of carrying out and following through with tasks more than a man. In regards to education, I believe that females have more success in reading and writing while males are better capable of understanding math. I suppose the reasoning for the success in math is based on my opinion that males are more apt to trigger into their ability to problem solve. Hyde’s
Buss (1989) found females select resource rich, ambitious men, supporting this idea and demonstrating how mate selection by females can enhance their parental investment by increasing the survival chances of their offspring. Another explanation is that females invest more because males have less parental certainty; or that females are less likely to have more offspring in the future (Gross and Sargent, 2005). Gross and Shine (1981) found with internal fertilization that parental care is carried out by females in 86% species, while with external fertilization parental care is carries out by males in 70% of species, supporting these predictions based on paternal certainty. However, Krebs and Davies (1981) report that it isn’t always true that external fertilization leads to increased paternal certainty. In sunfishes, cuckoldry occurs during the female’s egg positioning.
Here is a formula that is used often in AP statistics: z=x-xs Use your algebra skills... a. If z = 2.5, x = 102, and x = 100, what is s? Show your work b. If z = -3.35, x = 60, and s = 4, what is x? Show your work.
One of the earliest studies done by Johannes Lange found that MZ twins showed a much higher degree of concordance for criminal behaviour than DZ twins. But, as said above, it was questioned as to whether the twins were either DZ or MZ, so the data here is
The issue being raised was easy to understand, but the mass variability in the data Hines provided made her claims at the end of the chapter rather shallow. Hines raises the question of whether or not certain hormones, androgen and gonadal, influence cognition. She initially points out the sex differences found in males and females, and then compares different studies to determine if this exposure to a certain hormone increases cognition in non-sex typical traits. For example, if prenatal exposure to androgen increases a female’s spatial skills, which is considered to be a male characteristic. Hines first shows studies where androgen does increase cognitive abilities, and then shows ones where it has no effect.

When one talks about having a sense of self-esteem, what are we really referring to? According to psychology expert, Kendra Cherry, the term self-esteem is used to describe a person’s overall sense of self-worth and personal value. In Rick Bragg’s excerpt, “100 Miles per Hour, Upside Down and Sideways,” Bragg conveys images of the vehicles that he drove and what it was like to drive them, but he also announces how the performance of driving a fast car changed the way that he saw both himself and his place in the community (37). Although Rick Bragg’s high elevated sense of self-esteem had a positive outcome in enabling him to gain self-confidence, dominance, and a sense of self-worth, periodically, it also inserted him into impending situations. Self-esteem primarily indicates having confidence and satisfaction in oneself (“Self-esteem”).
