In terms of rehearsal technique we found bringing in audience’s to gain a response to see if what we had improvised had the reaction we were aiming for was helpful as our piece of theatre was to get a message across. This form of theatre is called ‘didactic’ as we are presenting the audience with facts and a message which they can then think about, rather than dialectic where performers present the audience with multiple views and the audience can then form an opinion based on what they had viewed.
Also, in terms of rehearsal techniques and how we made our piece of theatre, when we were unsure of what a character would do or say in a situation we would use the method of ‘hot seating’. This is when we ask the character questions as our characters or as ourselves. This brings information out of the character for which we can then use in the piece. ‘Hot seating’ contributes to making a successful piece of theatre as it develops characterisation and thought process.
When developing our ideas for our production, we improvised with mimicry and extending as we were working on the two comedy TV presenters which appeared between each scene for comic relief between the scenes which made the audience think about and question what they were seeing. For one of our scenes in which we use quotes from the transcript from the case of the stabbing of teenager Stephen Lawrence experimented
