Gay Marriage Should Be Legalized
Gays are entitled to the same privileges as heterosexual and interracial couples. Gay marriage should not just be legal in a few states and countries. It should be legal everywhere because marriage is about love, gay couples should be entitled to the same rights, and because gays do not discriminate again same-sex couples. Allowing same sex partners to declare their love for one another does not hurt anyone else and does not encourage homosexuality. Gay marriage should be legal because everyone deserves the same rights and privileges. Gay couples are going to be together, live together, hold hands and kiss in public just like heterosexual couples, whether they are married or not.
First of all, marriage is about love. People marry to declare their love for one another. No one chooses who they want to love. Falling in love just happens. If two men or two women fall in love, whether they marry or not should be their decision. The decision should not be made for them. Divorce rates between heterosexual couples are high at this time. Although not many gay couples are married, I have never heard of a same sex couple divorcing. I believe that the love between gay couples is made stronger because of all the hardships they must go through, like harassment, discrimination, and the struggle to marry one another.
Second, same-sex couples that are married should be entitled to the same rights and benefits as heterosexual couples, especially in case of emergency. Heterosexual spouses are permitted to make critical medical decisions for their spouses in the case of emergency, but gay couples are not. Even if married, hospitals may not be allowed to recognize a gay marriage. Therefore, in the case of emergency, the spouse of the injured may not even be allowed visitation rights, which is unfair.
Finally, many are against gay marriage because the Bible says that marriage is to be between a man and woman. Therefore...
