      About eight years ago I was working for a man that offered me truck rent for the truck I was using on the job. I was told that I had to buy a new truck in order to receive $600 a month. I was also told that I would be receiving truck rent for the entire term of the loan. Of course, I was able to get that in writing. One year later I was told that instead of truck rent I was going to receive a company truck and the company was no longer going to pay the truck rent. I was fired shortly after that for disagreeing with the owner about that. Because I had a written contract, which had all six element of an enforceable contract, and I was fired from my job for voicing my opinion about the breach of contract, I not only walked away from the company with a new truck that was paid for but also one year pay on top of that.
      In order to understand how the company I worked for was it the wrong legally we must first understand the nature of the contract I signed with them. I was being asked to leave my job working for one construction to work for another construction called Ferrell Paving. My job was going to be quality control on the concrete they were going to place into their roadway structures. The area to be covered was going to involve the greater Memphis area. This covered about seventy square miles.
      While working for Ferrell paving I was going to have to test concrete on the placement site during all concrete pours. I would also need to pick up all the concrete samples made the day before and drop them at a curing site. On top of that, concrete samples needed to be taken to the state testing facility each week once they are twenty-one days old. Needless to say I was going to need a truck to meet the requirements of the job.
