Violence in the Lives of Those Under 17

Video games today have increased greatly throughout the years. Their popularity has grown because of the game’s aggressive elements. Meaning, majority of video games are violent and aggressive and should not be played by all children.
Video games are much more violent than before, the popularity is at its highest peak today. The reason for that is because of the rate of mature games that have come out recently. There are many issues with the violence of video games. In today’s world, kids play any type of video game they want and if their allowed to. Parents usually buy the games for them, which is wrong. Children under the age of seventeen should not be allowed to play violent video games.
Violent video games consist of aggression and compulsion. Many have researched the topic of video games that are rated for everyone and video games that are rated mature.
According to Smith, results show that mature games are more likely to feature   violence than are those rated for general audiences. (Smith 58)

The video games that are rated for general audiences are the kind of games that children under the age seventeen should be playing. Even if the child’s parent insists on allowing them to play or purchasing the game for them they still should not be allowed to play.
Children under seventeen should not be allowed to play violent video games because these games consist of bad behavior and it teaches kids the wrong thing to do. Majority of kids are not at the age to understand the difference between it being just a game or whether it is for real. Children between the age of eight and ten play games such as Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat, and Gears of Wars.
