Global Communications (GC) is a telecommunications company trying to regain footing in its market by making some major changes. These changes have caused several issues that must be resolved if the company expects to be successful. The issues include layoffs of many employees, losing the trust of the Technical Workers Union, and dealing with employee morale.
Resolving the current issues and realizing the opportunities available to them (see Table 1) will start GC down the path to reach its End-State Goals (see Table 3). First, they will have to address the communication chasm between the GC management team and the Technical Workers Union. Then they will need to use all the tools given to them by the 9-step decision-making model. Only then can they expect success for their company and its employees.

Issue and Opportunity Identification
The issues facing Global Communications are manifold and complex. Economic pressures from an oversaturated telecommunications market, layoffs of numerous employees, and fractured relations with the public and the Technical Workers Union, are just a few. Working through these issues allows for opportunities for the management team at GC to better its relations, both internally and externally. In addition, they can help the company succeed in increasing its profits. (See Table 1)
