In the “ The West: A narrative history” the authors A. Daniel Frankforter & William M. Spellman poised a question stating. Does civilization promote unity or intensity divisions among peoples? The start of any civilization big or small takes unity no matter if the 21st century or after the crucification of Jesus Christ but does a new or establish society promote division.
In the early civilization’s like Egypt, Roman, and especially Persia where great civilizations where there peasants, but mostly there citizens where unified in the goal of each individual empire’s goals which were to become global standards and to expanded in all areas not just not land, but in education and foreign endeavors. With all good things have their problems; the division that came upon these powers where there leadership, government, and size. To have a great civilization with different religions, people, as well as Language takes great leader to control, a great government to understand them, an a size that is manageable for everyone. What the authors convey to me is that no civilization promotes any one thing more than the other. “ The identity a civilization provides may unite millions of people on one level while simultaneously dividing them into groups with different interest and concerns on others”(pg.32).
Civilization are today are experiencing the same problems that the great empires of their day were facing. The only difference what made them collapse and ours is that the people that are supposedly we have embraced and found a common goal that if we both work together that both are contributions can make this country great. Unity is the pinnacle of civilization but the division finds the hidden gems that are found to be leaders of a renaissance.
