The mysterious case of Jack the Ripper is by far the most notorious murder of all times. Jack the Ripper is the name given to the most infamous serial killer in history. “The Ripper” terrorized the White chapel district on the East side of London, England in 1888. This frightening period is often referred to as the "Autumn of Terror."
This case was the first case that psychological profiling was used in an attempt to catch a serial killer. A police surgeon, George B. Phillips first noticed that each of the murdered victims had their organs removed with precision that could only be achieved by someone who possessed anatomical or surgical knowledge or was in the butchery industry.
Despite following these observations and the fact that the police received several taunting notes signed “Jack the Ripper”, the killer was never caught, Sometimes just missing him minutes after when the police showed up. Some notable suspects that later investigations led to included Walter Sickert, an Impressionist painter who released paintings of murdered prostitutes 20 years later, Robert Stephenson, the army surgeon/occultist/magician and another man by the name of Thomas Cutbush. But to this day, the identity of Jack remains a mystery.

I think for someone to commit a crime, or a crimes of this size, and get away with it, has to be someone who was devoted to killing and had a “getaway” plan to follow it. Unfortunately, police never caught “the ripper” sometimes missing him by minutes after leaving the scene, therefore making his plan a success. With technology today, I’m sure police agencies can fond someone like this within a couple of days if not weeks.
