May 12th, 2008Dear Diary,
OH MY GOD. I WON THE LOTTERY. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? 10.5 MILLION DOLLARS! And it's mine! Now, you may think that the moment I found out I won; I was filled with joy and excitement. When I told Leslie and Jade that I had won, of course they were thrilled. Well, now we're in present time and it's Jade's birthday. Ever since she was a little girl, she'd been begging for a puppy. Of course, now, I could afford it, so I went ahead and bought one, like money nor quality was an option. I was very surprised at myself. When I gave Jade her gift, her eyes beamed in all brightness, screeching at the top of her lungs. The only thing was she did that every year. It was no different. She was grateful for everything she'd ever gotten. ” In the Color of Money I think Paul Newman said it best when he said “money won is twice as sweet as money earned.” This paper is going to give you the reasons why gambling should be legalized.
The Pros
Throughout history legalized gambling has long been an alluring financial quick fix. Despite some opposition, gambling has become widely accepted throughout America and the world. Modern gambling, sometimes called gaming, has increased rapidly in scope in recent decades. In the United States, where legal gambling generates more than $250 billion annually, many cities and states have authorized casinos and other forms of gambling. In particular, many Native American tribes have taken advantage of newly acquired legal rights to open casinos on reservations and have continued to expand their operations.
The gambling industry provides jobs for hundreds of thousands of workers and is an important source of tax revenue where it flourishes. Las Vegas can be a testament to powerful ability of gambling to foster economic development.
