What art forms did the Romans create and how did their art reinforce the social and cultural agenda of the period?

The conventional nature of the Roman people was depicted in their art, and it certainly contributed to its realism. But they also had an agenda, if not a mission to "write conquerors and conquered in one community" and they used their art to help their cause. There may be many aspects of Roman Art that are truly Roman, but the one that stands in the forefront is their use of relief sculpture in an historical and propagandistic manner. It is a fact that their Etruscan neighbors and the Greeks influenced the Romans, but there was far more to their art besides a reduplication of another culture's art forms. The Romans made art for pleasure, as a form of visual expression of emotion, and as a passion, the same as modern artists. Ancient Romans were not particularly creative but they were innovators. They liked to borrow artistic ideas from other cultures and change them slightly with their own improvements. The culture the Romans borrowed from most heavily was Greece. They admired the Greeks use of sculpture, architecture, mosaics, pottery and glass. All these art forms were adapted to fit Roman life styles and ideals. Many things influenced Roman Art. Some countries that they ruled over, like Greece, Egypt, and Africa influenced them. The Romans often mixed the best styles of those cultures. Romans believed in gods and goddesses as their religion. Their emperors also influenced them. Romans sculpted their masters and leaders. Romans had many different art forms. One of the art forms was a mural, large wall painting. Many Roman Emperors had murals on their walls of their palace. Architecture was another type art form.
