Left To Right

I couldn’t believe that all of my hard work had finally paid off. It was going to be a day that I would never forget for the rest of my life, and I got to enjoy it with my closest friends. It was pure enjoyment seeing all the parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and anyone else there to celebrate the start of something new for the Class of 2008; I just happened to be a part of it. The Pitman High School graduating Class of 2008 was 483 of the smartest, funniest, wittiest, craziest human beings anyone would ever meet. All 483 of the students, got to experience the excitement of graduation together. Although some may underestimate the importance of high school graduations and its affects on students and their lives, it is one of the most important transitions in a student's life.
I would have to say that the days I spent in high school were certainly the best days of my life. It was in school that I made my first friends, hoped for places in the sports teams, and learned my first lessons about life. And then a harsh reality came and I soon knew that my life would completely change. The transition from high school to college was very difficult. I didn’t know where to begin; I was completely lost. In high school, I counted on parents and teachers to remind me of my responsibilities and to guide me in setting priorities; and in college, I have to balance my responsibilities and set my own priorities. My goal, at the end of the journey, was to get that important piece of paper called a diploma. A high school diploma can be the gateway to postsecondary education, better employment and a successful college career. It can also be a ticket to moving into higher education and finally making something of myself. A diploma to me means that I finally accomplished something that seemed impossible at first to achieve and no one thought I could pull it off; but in the end I ended up proving them wrong.
