Comparison and Contrast
The coming election is scheduled for November 4, 2008 a few weeks from now. Each candidate is trying their best to win this election. They will do anything to make one another become unpopular, and negative ads are one of them. Mostly, negative ads are video clips, political cartoons, or a short statement. After I compare the two negative ads of political cartoon for McCain and Obama, it shows me that it is difficult to choose one of them to be the President of the United States.
First, this year election is really important for America. However, both candidates are not really perfect yet to be a President of the United States. In article, “Ready, Aim, Fire!” (Newsweek Oct 20, 2008), Sharon Begley, illustrate that both of them are not good. McCain has 76,238 of negative ads and Obama has 75,246 of negative ads.
Second, the two negative ads are similar and describe that both candidates are closer to their friend, family, or clan than the public. First negative ads, the artist drew McCain and made him dressed like a POW (prisoner of war), and he was tutoring by Obama, Hilary Clinton, and Bush. McCain tells the public that he is completely different from Bush. However, McCain and Bush are similar in many ways such as they’re in the same group, they support war, etc. Also, Bush and McCain, they are best friend. The second ads, drew a bunch of people chatting while them drinking. They said that Obama is their cousin, or cousin’s cousin, even the mice. This ad is warning the voters who are choosing Obama to be a President of the United States, that Obama will put more efforts on his family or his clan more than the public.
Last, right now McCain has more negative ads than Obama. Base on the first political cartoon ads, if McCain lose, his status would be the same as a POW. McCain will be a senate just like Hilary Clinton, under Obama as the U.S. President. It is look like McCain stuck in the cage again...
