Have you ever watched old western movies? A western movie that is considered a classic is The Good The Bad and The Ugly. This movie is all about wild, lawless men that storm through towns, destroying every moving thing in their path. They discharge their revolvers and kill people without any limitations. That was normal in the past, but this is now! I haven’t seen much change besides the advanced technology of the guns.
Every year over one million hand guns are produced and placed in the hands of U.S. citizens. In the United States alone there are between sixty to sixty five million hand guns found in the homes of countless Americans. These handguns include the Wilson Combat 45, Nighthawk Custom 45, Glock Handgun, and countless more. Barack Obama, Democratic presidential candidate, wishes to ban the production and distribution of these and other handguns—at least according to the National Rifle Association.
This is the complete opposite of what Obama stands for! He has stated that he “does not support any such handgun ban and never has. He supports reasonable restrictions on the sale and possession of handguns". I would like to shed some light on these fallacious comments, and show that Obama’s statements are being misconstrued by the NRA. I believe the NRA’s interpretations of Obama’s stand on firearms may be playing a key part in persuading the general public to slide to be republican, as opposed to continuing their current position of being Democratic. I want to clear up any confusion on what they present as Obama’s stance on the banning of the production and distribution of handguns. A stand that the NRA is inaccurately presenting as the truth.
Where did these false accusations start, and why did the idea of banning sales and distributions of handguns ever come up? NRA located a survey taken in 1996 for an Illinois state Senate campaign. On Obama’s form, the answer “yes” was filled out in response to the question, "Do you support...
