Location Strategy, Geographical Diversification and Firm Performance Research Proposal
Describing Research Problem For almost every single economic structure it is most likely location to be an important factor of success and development. Simply speaking, for a business location places questions like: how many customers will encounter the business? How far from resources is the location? Such questions are on the basic level of thinking when a business is about to be established. It is however without a doubt that geographical location and diversification can affect the firm performance and generate the need of forming location strategy. The location strategy in this case will try to maximise the benefits by successfully location geographic point where all needs of the firm will be satisfied – hence cost reduction and better opportunity exploration. The importance of location strategy is obvious and the topic deserves a research that would give extensive description and various solutions helpful to almost every business. Furthermore, it seems that the academic fields are also interested in the proposed research. For example, A paper by Young Sang Kim, was published in 2008, examines the economic effect of geographical diversification on the firm performance. He uses 28,050 firm-year observations from 1990 – 1998, proving successfully the relationship. As it is now clear, location strategy is a must for every firm in the decision making process.
