    Social Web can mean so much now a day. Social web can mean one thing to one person and a completely different thing to another. I know I use to think that social web was just chat rooms and networking sites like Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter, but after doing much research I started looking at social web closely. What I found out about social web opened my eyes to how big social web really is. I mean what seemed like a short topic became very interesting. The more I read about social web the more I wanted to know. From what social web is, where social web came from, what it’s past and present is, some of the pros and cons of using social web, and what social web’s future are just some of the many things why social web became extremely interesting to me. They are also some of the many things that make up what social web is and why social web shouldn’t be taken for granted.
    Let’s start from the beginning. I mean what is social web? Really? I have found that if you type this simple question into a search engine like Google, Bing, or Yahoo you may get a many different answers. While all of them to an extent may be right, it will still leave you with the same question. Take for example we all know of such sites as Google +, Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter but it wasn’t until 1996 that Google even became considered social networking. Then Myspace was created in 2003 and Facebook was created the following year in 2004. (Bowles 2004) Oh and we cannot forget about our baby social networking site Twitter that began in 2006 and is now one of the most popular sites out there now.   Which after knowing all this now I can understand why my grandmother may sometimes from time to time still need help trying to send an email or needs help creating a profile on different sites.
