Question: What are the four phases of organization change (in sequential order) and what activities need to take place within?
Response:
The four phases of organization change are , The Prelaunch Phase, The Launch Phase, Postlaunch, and Sustaining the Change. In first phase, The Prelaunch Phase there are certain activities that need to take place for this phase to take place. One of these activities is, Leader Self-Examination, this process concerns the use of self, how to be persuasive, how to deal with resistance and how to be political in the best sense of the phrase, and how to embody the vision of where one wants the organization to go. Another activity that must take place in The Prelaunch Phrase is , the external environment which is a critical element for the CEO and other top leaders. This would include information such as changing customers needs, changing technology, changing government regulations, what competitors are up to, and what is occurring in the general economy both domestically and worldwide. Another activity in this phrase is, Establishing the Need for Change, if people in the organization don’t feel a need for a change they are likely not to embrace it thus the CEO and senior executives are more likely to see the need for change sooner and clearer then the majority of the organization. The last activity in this phrase is , Providing clarity of vision and direction in which is the final point of the prelaunch phrase is to craft a vision statement and to provide clear direction for the organizational change effort. The next phrase in organizational change is, The Launch Phrase. One of the activities in this phrase is communicating the change which is where the CEO delivers a message about the need for change.
