Day 1: My tasteless journey to Canterbury
Today was the worst day in April, I would never want to remember again. It was also the day where I made it through Canterbury with the Franklin, my landowner and his companions. I started out my day as usual, by making breakfast for the Franklin. What a cheerful man he is, but a selfish one. I made him a good thick soup, which is one of my special dishes and of course the daily dish, bake-meat pie. Coming to think of it, this morning wasn’t too bad compared to what happen this evening. Anyways, after he was finished with his breakfast, I gathered the foods that were left over for myself and started cleaning the table. Since, I am the only cook around, the Franklin had many expectations from me each day when it came to dishes. If he wanted a blancmange, a creamy chicken dish, I would have to serve it right away, no matter where I am. I remember that one day, where I was in the bathroom, and the Franklin called me out to make his dinner. At that moment I didn’t even had the time to wash my hands, and I saw no point in washing, so I decided not to wash my hands from that day on. I wonder if he knows…Anyways moving on, the Franklin would always crave for a piece of cake with the finest wine in the morning. I don’t know how anyone can have the same cake and wine in the morning every single day. Anyhow, after I finished cleaning the table, I went straight into the kitchen to finish off the left overs. As I was about to eat the first bite of my own bake meat pie, the Franklin came in. He came in to remind me to pack the foods for our trip to Canterbury. As soon as he left, I had taken out my pot from the cellar and started putting in the ingredients. For the trip to Canterbury was a long way, I needed plenty of supplies and ingredients, and yes indeed, I needed them.
