Chasing the Kyoto Mirage
After reading this article on global warming, I totally agree with the author in the fact that, “Never other than during two world wars, has there been such a concerted effort by institutions to indoctrinate Americans. Eighty-three percent of who now call global warming a “serious problem”. For example, Democrats could demand that the president send the Kyoto Protocol to the senate so they can embrace it. In 1997, the senate voted 95-0 in opposition to any agreement which would require significant reduction of greenhouse-gas emissions in America and other developed nations.” It is funny how president Jimmy Carter warned us Americans about this a long time ago, and even went to the extremes of putting solar panels on and around the white house instead of using electricity. But as soon as he left office, Ronald Reagan removed the solar panels, encouraging Americans to not follow this act of Carter’s because it was no good. I do also; believe that “meat is a menace”. “A BMW is less responsible than a Big Mac for “climate change”. This is because the world meat industry produces eighteen percent of the world’s greenhouse-gas emissions, which is even more than transportation produces. This means that, “Nitrous oxide in manure and methane from animal flatulence mean that, a sixteen ounce T-bone steak is like a Hummer on a plate.” These just goes to show that some things may be small and look efficient, but looks can be deceiving. Like the Prius Hybrid which comes with environmental costs to mining and smelting one thousand tons a year of zinc for the battery-powered second motor, and the shipping of the zinc is ten thousand miles. Basically global warming is going to hit us, no matter what. The question is are we going to help reduce the effect on this global warming stage or help create a monster.
