Crompton, Janice. "CRITICS TAKES AIM AT VIOLENCE IN VIDEO GAMES." Pittsburgh Post - Gazette 1 Feb. 2007 [Pittsburgh, Pa], south ed.: S.2. 30 Sep. 2008 .
California University of Pennsylvania hosted a debate on violence in video games between Gerard Jones and Jack Thompson and the students. The speakers debated the about the court case against Rockstar Games of the explicit minigame that was embedded in the game “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas”. Thompson referenced these violent games as “murder simulators” though he is a strong supporter of the first amendment he agrees that the games with violent content should not be sold to under age children and statistics proves that the games were getting into the hands of children despite the laws 42% of the time. He referenced playing violent video games and instances of violence in teens. One of the major points made reference the Columbine High School shooting in Colorado where the teens reenacted the events that took place in the game Doom proving that violence in video game cause physical acts of violence in our children. Another point is that it causes aggressive behavior in children over long periods of game play. This a very useful article to support my argument. The two speaker Mr. Thompson a Miami, Lawyer know as the “virtue vigilante” that has even tried the case to ban vulgar violence in the music industry. The article is on 1 Feb. 2007 which up to date enough for my argument . Also the article supported my side of the argument that violent video games cause physical violence in children.
