Is the fast food industry responsible for the health of their customers? Well, that’s a question many people want to be answered. I some ways, it is the responsibility of the fast food industry because they are the ones who advertise on the television and billboards. The advertisement industry is not taking any consideration on posting more nutritional information on fast food. It is also the responsibility of the adults who provide to those who live within their household, such as the children. Weintraub claims that the parents are the ones who take action on their children’s eating habits. Zinczenko states that there is a lack of information about what exactly we’re consuming. In my opinion the parents have the responsibility gather, control and take action of what the advertisement industry does to the health of their children.
When children arrive home from school, what is the first thing they do? They run straight to the television. Many children see fast food commercials being repeatedly advertised. Now who would be responsible for that? One answer comes to mind, the parents. The parents need to take action on what their young ones react to. As Weintraub said, “They should receive at least 20 minutes of physical activity. If not then parents would be risking their children to obesity and diabetes.” Parents should encourage their child to participate in any outdoor activity so they can get a certain amount of exercise each day. They also need to step up to the plate, being examples to their young ones to show them that eating responsibly will also give them a longer and more productive life. They will show them and I return their future grandchildren will also benefit.
