No matter what people tell others about “what goes around comes around”, nothing will ever alter true destiny. One might be very noble and tactful, but if it is meant that something bad will happen to, he or she has no way of turning that around. Instead, the true test of nobility would be determined after one deal with such problems. This was the case in Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood. This tragedy is compiled of regret, deceit, and redemption. But for just about every character in the story, destiny and karma has sealed the fate of the bad and even the noble.
The ones that sin in In cold Blood end up paying for their deadly motives fatally not only because it is typical for an antagonist to, but because of karma and destiny. Perry Edward Smith and Richard (Dick) Eugene Hitchcock were the cold blooded killers of the Clutter family. Interesting enough, the two men never met the Clutters, they only knew of them, and their only motive was the fact that they wanted to steal the family’s fortune. Although it was Hitchcock who initiated the plan to steal the wealth, ultimately killing for it and coming up short; while as, Perry, the passive on in the duo followed with no choice. “’It doesn't make sense. I mean what happened. It had nothing to do with the Clutters. They never hurt me. They just happened to be there. I thought Mr. Clutter was a very nice gentleman... I thought so right up to the time I cut his throat’” (Capote 321).Perry did not really have a motive to kill the Clutters but broken promises and money schemes led him to do a crime that he and his partner paid for (by getting hanged). As for Dick, he was not regretful and he wanted to hurt the Clutters as much as possible and it dismayed Perry; of course, not enough to keep him from killing the family. “’I’m gonna [sic] bust that little girl.' And I said, 'Uh-huh [sic]. But you'll have to kill me first’” (Capote 49). Perry, dependant on Dick for everything, didn’t want to harm the Clutters but he...
