Read Act I, scene i and note down the line references that represent the following sections:
1. Iago and Roderigo enter arguing about Iago’s use of Roderigo’s money.
2. Iago complains that he has been passed over for promotion.
3. Iago reveals that he is only continuing to be loyal to Othello in order to seek revenge.
4. Iago reveals that nothing about him is necessarily as it seems.
5. Iago and Roderigo awaken Brabantio, a Venetian senator, to tell him of his young daughter’s secret and controversial marriage to Othello, a black, middle-aged general in the Venetian army.
6. Brabantio is initially displeased and suspicious of this information – partly as Roderigo has recently been rejected as a suitor for Desdemona.
7. Roderigo persuades Brabantio that he should at least check if their claims are true.
8. Iago leaves the scene not wanting to be identified as having informed Brabantio of Othello’s actions.
9. Brabantio believes that Desdemona must have been bewitched or enchanted to have deceived her father and married Othello.
10. Roderigo and Brabantiio leave to confront Othello.
