Discuss the purpose of the War on Crime. Was it effective? Why or why not?

President Lyndon Johnson authorized a series of federsal presidential coimmissions to study crime and justice in the US and to recommend suggested reforms to restore public confidence. The War on Crime was basically a plan so show Americans that the criminal justice system could be restored. Many people thought law and order could not regain control. A study of the criminal justice system, with an eye on reform, was a great challenge, and many people thought the task impossible. The American Bar Association declared that the criminal justice system in America was, in reality, a “nonsystem.” The July 25, 1965, War on Crime’s objectice was to be the counter attack of crime and social disorder because the system was failing. The war ended up being a success.
The declared War on Crime, I think, was a major success. The finding of the President’s Crime Commission concluded that the fear of crime has eroded the basic quality of life for many Americans. It also recognized the importance of crime prevention and the necessity of eliminating injustices in the criminal justice system. To win the war on crim, the commission called for the development of a broad range of services in response to the crime problem, strategies to attract better-quality personnel at all levels of the criminal justice system, reseawrch into the adiminstration, greater resources at all levels of the system, and much greater community and civil involvement. I think that’s what we did to wion the war and finally restored law and order in the communities.
