In the words of the great American Philosopher John Dewey, “Education is not preparation for life, education is life.” This is very true in many ways. Education is the knowledge that one learns through life experiences. The difference between someone who is “educated” and someone who is not is in the way they communicate. The main purpose of an education is to fulfill ones personal intellectual potential. Therefore, education plays an important role in living a satisfying life.
Every single experience in life holds a lesson to be learned. Just like a teacher educates their classroom, life is there to educate one about making good decisions on what to do and what not to do. It also teaches one the basic principles of cause and effect. For example, when a child touches a pot cooking on the stove, he/she realizes it is hot and learns not to touch something on the stove. Life experiences also reveal to ones likes and dislikes. For instance, when a student studies abroad for a year in foreign country, he/she might discover a hidden passion for another culture or language. In addition to all of this, these everyday experiences can also teach one a lot about how to communicate with others.
When communicating with someone, it’s easy to know when one is educated or not. Things like, the words they use, they way they use them, and how they pronounce them, are all signs of ones level of education. Most well-educated and successful people have high communication skills with a warm, emotional intelligence. While they can speak intellectually, they can communicate from the emotional aspect as well. Being able to communicate is vital to living a fulfilling life.
An education allows one to be the best he/she can be. Anyone who wants to feel a sense of accomplishment in their life should have some sort of an education.
Education provides people with the tools and knowledge they need to understand and participate in...
