Games have been played for people’s enjoyment for centuries. Board games were sine of the earliest developed to challenge thinking skills and test luck.. The oldest board game know to man is from the Egyptian dynasty in 3500 B.C. Video games are fairly new to the world, but still have been around since the 20th century. From the traditional and timeless game Monopoly to the Cyber Amateur League today, gaming continues to expand enjoyable experiences and knowledge. Although board games and video games are two forms of entertainment, board games can appeal to a much larger crowd.
Some popular board games that I grew up on are Sorry, Scrabble, Life and Candyland. These games require of players pieces, cards, and dice to play. They all bring together the family for a fun time. Anyone above the age of three can enjoy. This makes board games more available to all people. Some video games can be played alone, but one disadvantage of board games is that you can not play by yourself! Board games can also be educational unlike most video games. Games like Scrabble are enjoyable and develop or test a player’s vocabulary.
Video games are a newer form of entertainment. Some classic arcade video games include Pacman and Centipede. Some of the newer popular computer and console games are Halo and Counter Strike Source. Video games and board games are alike in that they are usually played with one or more people, or on teams. Most video games currently are multiplayer or played online, and have been played by thousands and even millions at a time. You could be playing by yourself or with someone nations away. Some disadvantages are that video games are more expensive and require a television, console, or a computer to play. This along with the rating of games limits the crowd that can enjoy video games. More current video games have ratings so parents can regulate what their child plays. These games may have too much violence or too much foul...
