Personal Ethics Statement

For almost every problem we face in life there is a right decision and a wrong one.   What may be right for us may be wrong for another.   These decisions and how we come about in making them are determined greatly by how we are raised, the society in which we live, and our own personal idea of what is right and what is wrong.   These determining factors are our personal ethics.   Ethics have been defined as “The basic principles and values that govern interactions among individuals.   Sound personal ethics are typically those that positively impact the experience of others when used to govern an individual’s social or business related behavior, and at very least, such ethics should not have a negative impact on others.” (2012 WebFinance, Inc.) To me, ethics is my own personal belief system.   They are the beliefs and moral values that have shaped me into the person I am and aspire to be.   They help dictate my reactions to people, situations, and personal challenges.   Ethics also help mold the values I hold in personal relationships.   My personal ethics help to define who I am, how I live my life, the standards I hold for myself and my loved ones, and provide me with a guideline in determining the success of my future.   Each person’s ethics will differ in the sense that personal values are that of the individual and are compiled from family values, life experience, and societal influence.  

I believe that our personal ethics come from within and are influenced by our lifestyle and the people around us.  The basic instruction you receive as a child helps to shape and begin your perception of ethics. My childhood memories and experiences instilled the strong belief in family structure and the importance of family in general.   I was raised by my mother and grandmother; their views and values greatly influenced my own beliefs and values.
