Issue Comparison/Reaction
Citron, J (2008). Compare Obama and McCain on LGBT Issues http://pride.barackobama.com/page/content/lgbthome My reaction to the differences in opinions on LGBT issues was amazement and disbelief. I respect greatly, and also am amazed that we have a presidential candidate, Barack Obama, who can have an open mind to what is truly right and wrong morally. Barack Obama, being a religious man, still has the mind frame to not impose his own belief system upon American citizens and realizes that America is a melting pot of different religions, beliefs, and cultures. Obama supports our freedom and hears Americans calling for change. My reaction of disbelief to the different opinions on the LGBT issues stems from John McCain’s simple-minded, self-absorbed, and apparent disconnection from the American public with his comments and views upon the LGBT issues. McCain’s comment “I don’t believe in gay adoptions.” does nothing but create the idea that families can only be heterosexual, and homosexual families are not worthy of having a family. What American voters now have to decide is to live with freedom or oppression.
