Career Fair
Career Fair was a very informing experience for me. I have never been to anything like the career fair. In fact, I have never really thought about my future career at all. There were many different booths set up with different career opportunities. One I found especially interesting was the AJGA booth. The AJGA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. This was so interesting to me because I have grown up around golf. My dad played college and professional golf and now he manages golf courses for a living. An internship with AJGA is the perfect way to ease my way into the golf business. Interns will learn everything that is involved with conducting a golf tournament. Some of the duties and responsibilities include: On-course rules officiating, general tournament set-up and preparation, starting and scoring of players, media and public relations, along with many more. Although I am only a freshman I am very excited about the possibility of interning with AJGA. I believe it is a perfect fit for my and my future career.
Another booth I found to be very interesting was the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort company. This is another possible internship that would greatly benefit me in entering the golf course management business.
My overall opinion of the Career Fair is that it is a fun environment that provides students the opportunity to gain internships with a variety of companies.
