Bead Bar Systems Development Project
My name is Letisha Boyd and I will be making recommendations for the Bead Bar Systems Development project. I will present an overview of the Bead Bar’s organizational structure as well as its business. Additionally I will present the systems development plan along with visual aids. My belief is that after reviewing my recommendations the Bead Bar Senior Management will not only approve but appreciate the aspects of this plan.
1998 Meredith S. founded the Bead Bar. The Bead Bar is a jewelry making company in which their primary focus is making jewelry with beads. Their base of operations is located in New Canaan Connecticut; however since its creation it now offers several studios and franchises throughout the United States. Additionally, it is comprised of 3 divisions: studios, franchises, and Bead Bar on Board, with the Bead Bar on Board as a portable studio that can be carried aboard a ship and set up in a lounge or on deck. The supplies the cruise ship employees use are purchased through the Bead Bar. The company has 15 full-time employees and about 20 part-time employees who work in the studios helping customers and working the cash register. Annual revenues for the past three years have averaged $1.5 million (Malaga, 2005).
Information Systems
An information system consists of three things: humans, technology, and organization. In order to succeed the Bead Bar will need an information system that is centralized, multi-accessible, information can be accessed remotely, and an E-business website created.
In the case that all the information is stored in a centralized location, all departments will be able to access all the data related to their requirements. Customization is a key factor with this plan; it will enable each department to develop and access information according to their particular needs and interface accordingly.
