This year, I did not have the option of participating in community service. I was actually required to participate in four different community service projects, including one with my sponsor. The activities/projects I helped with were: the trick-or-treat-street at my parish, freely running a day-care program at the parish of one of my mother’s friends, planting flowers and weeding at a local church with my sponsor, and helping out at the Tet show that the confirmation class put on for the seniors at Little Sister’s of the Poor Parish. At first, the requirements scared me; I felt like I did not want to do anything, but as I finished each project, I was eager for more. My community servic
All of these projects brought out the good in me and the good in others. I learned how to incorporate the Beatitudes in my life to make myself and others happy, I knew how to use the Corporal works of mercy to help others and myself, I knew that the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the gifts and fruits helped me through any difficulties that befell on me. Because I noticed that all these services fit it with what we have done in class, it tells me what God’s mission for me is, I understand that God wants me to serve, He also wants me to encourage others to serve. I will freely and willingly accept this mission and serve more often! When I serve I can’t help but notice that I put at least one smile on someone’s face.
