In World War 1 Afghanistan wasn't much of an impact. Afghanistan remained nuetral with Amir Habibullah Khan. They joined the league of Nations in 1934. In World War 2 Afghanistan wasn't part of much either. In the Cold War Afghanistan had its own war with the Soviet Union from December 27 1979 - February 15 1989. It started when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. In the Age of imperialism Afghanistan stayed out. Afghanistan hasn't participated in many great wars.
Afghanistan has an Islamic Republic government. They have 3 branches : excutive, Legislative, Judicial. There current head of state or president is Hamid Karzai. He was elected December 7, 2004 and won, and then was re-elected in 2009. The supreme court is currently led by the Chief Justice Abdul Salam Azimi. Afghanistan's new constitution was made on December 14 2003 - January 4 2004 and was signed on January 2004 and ratified January 26 2004. Afghanistan has more than 90,000 national police officers who were trained by the Afghanistan Police Program. Afghanistans age of suffrage is 18.
Afghanistan has a very very poor economy. Its still recovering from years and years of conflicts, and has improved since the fall of Taliban regime in 2001 mainly because of international help. Afghanistan is dependent on other countries for agriculture and trading supplies. Many of the countries imports are machinery and capital goods, foods, textiles, pelts, and . The country doesn't have many exports besides hand made carpets, wool, cotton, hides and pelts, and valuable gems. Afghanistan also makes its own furniture ,soaps, shoes, fertillizer, food products, and non-alcoholic beverages. Afghanistans agricultral porducts include opium, wheat, fruits, nuts, and wool. Its main exports is India , Pakistan, United States, and Russia, and its main imports is the United States and Pakistan. Afghanistan owed 1.23 biillion to Russia and Multilateral Development Banks in 2008.
