Sofya Vasilyevna Kovalevskaya, a distinguished female mathematician, displayed outstanding brilliance through her mathematical abilities, as well as the magnitude of her major contributions she struggled to accomplish. Kovalevskaya was born in Moscow, Russia on January 15, 1850.
