Poor Education is the Root of our Global Crisis
Today’s society is riddled with pressing issues such as our economic state, foreign relations, and global warming. These are all issues that only a few percentage of Americans are properly educated about and this for mentioned education was most likely self implicated. At the root of the problems facing America is ignorance. Even though most Americans have heard of these problems, few know their complexities and realize the ripples these issues have on our new global society. There needs to be a radical change in the American educational system. If the state of mass ignorance continues these other major issues can not be ratified. Even with government leaders working to correct the crisis our country is in, if there is not a switch in the mind set of every individual, their efforts will be fruitless. Issues such as the downfall of our economy, the derogation of our planet and cultural tensions will not only continue on the path they are on but will increase with time. Americans need to be educated on global and national issue from a much earlier age and in more depth so that individuals can make a unified change in the same direction and further depravities don’t persist in generations to come.
The mind of a large percentage of moderately educated Americans is swimming with the latest celebrity gossip and consumed with keeping up with the Jones. Although this type of lifestyle doesn’t seem dangerous in and of itself when set in the context of today’s society it proves it self to be the most dangerous mind set to have, one of ignorance and apathy. It is this same mind set that weaves the web linking all of our other important issues together simply because nothing of lasting merit can be accomplished if America is not united and remains uneducated.
