Singapore, a small dot on the world map is today a developed country. The world is shocked as to how a country with such a short history compared to many other countries, a country with no natural resources, a country with land scarcity has achieved this status. The reason is that our leaders dreamt and made the effort to make their dream come true. In 1965, when Singapore separated from Malaysia, there hope of prosperity was bleak. Singapore becoming a world-class world was like imagining a fairy tale to our ancestors. Our first prime minister and his team of leaders had dreamt of the future.

However, the optimism of our leaders changed the course of Singapore’s fate. She prospered socially, economically, politically and culturally. Now she still dreams and continues to prosper in this competitive world. Its phenomenal growth has shocked my countries. The dream of our leaders has now given us a peaceful, multi-racial, multi-religious and multi-cultural country. Our leader’s dreams made our ancestor’s fairy tales come true. If one day Singapore becomes a super power, it would be no surprise and she dared to dream and worked towards her dream.

If the next generation stops dreaming, Singapore might crumble and become history like the lost city of Atlantis. We as the next generation have to start dreaming of greater and larger things. Stopping to dream will be the end of any nation.
