To All Employees:
The San José Mine in Copiapó Chile has collapsed trapping approximately 33 miners.
Rescue operations are underway to find and rescue the miners.
All volunteers wanting to help should report to the sites base of operations immediately, to coordinate and assist with rescue operations.
We wish to express our sincere hopes of locating all 33 missing miners alive and well at this time.

Note: This memo should be delivered verbally in a face to face meeting by San Esteban himself to his employee’s. The company should have in place a procedure for doing search and rescue missions as soon as they occur.

To family of missing miners:
Please be advised that [ insert family member’s name] has been reported to be one of the 33 missing miners in today’s tragic mining incident.
Please know that we are currently involved in a massive search and rescue mission to locate your family member.
We have set up a waiting area for you at the mine while this rescue is being done. Please know that we are doing everything humanly possible to get to these men as fast as possible. Should you require anything, please let us know.
Note: This messages needs to be delivered in a face to face meeting by either the owner, San Esteban himself, or an appropriate high level official of the company. Due to the circumstances of the incident, I wouldn’t want to be told by phone or hearing it on the news that it was someone in my family that is missing.
