Introduction:
A government in any country has to look at both environmental protection and economic development as both measures are vital to the country. Our stand is that environmental protection should take precedence over economic development as in our quest for economic development; we may harm the earth till the damage done is permanent. Thus it is too late to start having concerns about the environment when we have attained our economic goals.

Importance of economic development
 When the economy is booming,
 there will be more Research and Development being done as there are more fund available.
 As a result, there will be better and improved technology.
 This results in a rise in the standard of living.
 Create energy-efficient objects and save the environment in the future.

Will individuals really save energy?
• Possibility: they may just waste the same amount of energy in a longer period of time, but feel less guilty because they KNOW that they’re contributing to saving the environment by buying energy-efficient products.
