Beast is the Beauty
“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.”- Ashley Smith. Life is full of beauty, but what is beauty? The Marian Webster’s dictionary defines beauty as “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.” My personal definition of beauty is perfection in physical appearance and qualities of friendliness and copassion, that are more than skin deep. Beauty is a superb value found in all aspects of life including in relationships, fears, and even death.
Beauty is a wonderful characteristic of friendship. My best friend and I are perfect examples. We are together so often we have begun to pick up on each others’ habits. I’ve started twirling my hair like her, and she has begun dancing when she eats. Ok, so what? The beauty isn’t in adopting each other’s habits; rather, I most see the beauty in our relationship when we need each other. My friend is very academically gifted. If I’m struggling in a class, she helps me to understand what is going on. When she is having a bad day and I make her laugh (something I am good at doing). The splendor of beauty in friendship is when we are there to support and guide each other. Ironically, beauty in relationships isn’t found only when we support each other, but also when we fight with one another.
There’s beauty in fighting?! At first glance, arguing may seem like just verbal or physical violence, but there is more to it than that. When I fight with a friend it is definitely not pretty. There may be name calling, hurtful memories brought up, and other things we would never do or say normally. Every relationship has fights, but it isn’t the fights that break it apart, it is the lack of willingness to fight for that relationship. If one is willing...
