The impact and benefits of social networking
It is inevitable that throughout life, we meet different people. Whether those people leave a negative or positive effect on us varies. Some will only be in our lives for a short period of time and some for a longer period of time. However, once we start to lose contact with them questions arise and we begin to wonder: Why did we stop talking to one another? Where has he/she been? What does he/she look like now? How has he/she been? Or, what would our relationship be like if I had kept in contact with him/her? Thanks to social networking sites, those questions don’t have to go unanswered.
Ever since the invention of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and the newly introduced Google+, millions of people have been able to update people about their whereabouts, meet new friends, reconnect with old friends, blog, and upload videos and pictures. Social networking has become a part of our daily routine and will only continue to expand.
1) Social Networking Sites allow you to create, build and reconnect old relationships
2) Social networking sites are free and allow us to blog, share pictures, and be creative.
3) Social networking sites bring people with common interests together. They also give people the chance to communicate with those they may not feel comfortable communicating with face-to-face.
Each social networking site varies in the types of functionality and tools it provides. They also vary in the type of users that they are trying to attract. Some sites have video and photo sharing capabilities while others have built in blogging and instant messaging systems. Others target specific geographical regions and linguistic groups while others target specific ethnic, religious, political, or sexual oriented people. However, with all of these differences, social networking sites have managed to keep three things in common with one another; Profiles, friends, and private-messaging.
