Eulogy For Romeo And Juliet

EULOGY
“It would be an honor for me to eulogize the departed. We are here today to pay our last respects to Juliet and her Romeo who was both struck down early in their youth. Young Romeo and Juliet were both kind and respectful people, and I knew them both just as well as they knew each other. God works in mysterious ways. Romeo and I were sitting at Backus’s Pub just six month ago. We were having a few beers, which we did every Saturday afternoon together, talking about politics, girls and our lives. All he seemed to talk about was Juliet. Then the subject of death came up.
As Romeo normally did, he joked around about his own mortality. He said something that will stay in my mind for a long time. He said: “You know Benvolio; I probably won’t make it much longer. I’ve lived too much, too hard. I want Juliet to be my wife before I die.” We both smiled and started to chuckle a bit, not really believing what he said. Six months later, here we are, minus two, Romeo and Juliet gone from our lives. I still can’t believe they are gone. They were like family to me.
There are only a handful of people who come into your world, and touch your life in a dramatic fashion. Some of the people are just flickers of light during a long life, while others are consistent glows for years. For me, Romeo was my consistent glow. He was my best friend for close to 10 years.
I remember the first time I met Romeo. I felt so comfortable around him. I had never experienced that before with other friends. I felt like I could tell him anything, like he was the brother I never had. For the first time, there was a consistent figure in my life, which I could turn to for friendship and support.
It wasn’t until a week ago that we were at Backus’s Pub, and he told me about how he wanted to propose to Juliet. All he would think or talk about was her. Two days later he came to my front door with a big smile on his face telling me that he had just...
