A Grain of Sand
When children go to school, life is quite easy. They only have to study take good marks home.
But when they leave high school, reality is a little bit different. Of course, to be someone in this world, college is the only choice. No college, no future.
For that reason, these adolescents enrol themselves in college, in the hope that in no more than six years they will have their degree. Truth is that this never happens. However, sometimes their parents can keep on supporting them and they get their degrees more quickly than others.
Many young people start working as soon as they finish school, and studying and working is just not a very good combination. Why is it not a good combination? The answer is that most of them work long tiring hours at shopping centres, call centres or at fast food restaurants. When it is time to do homework or read a book, their only free time to do so is on their journey to or from work. Yet, it is more appealing to sleep, if they get a seat, than reading a boring book. Boring books because they are just too old. The world has changed and students still read books written three decades ago.
Sometimes they ask themselves what studying is worth for. They simply do not know the answer. It is too complicated to think about it. They do not even know how to think! At college, students do not think. They do things mechanically because they were taught in that way and they are still taught like that. Teachers are the same teachers that taught the students’ parents in the eighties.
Education is in deep waters; sooner or later the ship of knowledge will sink, it will never be remembered again. Those who have the chance to make a change should do so. In fact they must! Education will not change unless something is done.
All those dreams of being someone in life that students have, are gradually disappearing through the fog, a very deep fog. Parents are very busy juggling to...
