Immigration; Is Immigration Seriously Harmful?
For the past hundreds of years immigrants have flooded the shores of the United States, looking for a new life, a second chance. Many of these immigrants came poor, with little or no money, their only belongings being the clothes on their backs. These immigrants, with very little or no education, continue to make an enormous impact on the culture, social future and economy of the United States. Being America one of the countries that allows the largest level of immigration in the world, many of these immigrants when looking for a better way of life reside in the U.S. illegally. Using all kinds of public services as healthcare, schools or other social programs which by their status is not covered by the state or federal government but by American citizens and U.S. residents who pay taxes.
Most of the immigrants come to the U.S. thinking that everything would be provided to them for free, and become burdens to the government. They bring their families, which consists of sons and daughters, and try to acquire jobs. Even though they have good intentions, they are not always helpful to our country. Many of these immigrants have children while living in the U.S. Through them they obtain free aid, as food stamps and healthcare. Critics of illegal immigration describe the presence of this number of illegal immigrants as an “invasion” that threatens the economic and social future of the United States. “The sovereignty of our nation is at risk from a flood of illegal immigrants who are usurping the benefits of being American citizens,” writes columnist Ken Hamblin. Hamblin and others argue that the United States has limited resources and abilities to assimilate new immigrants, and that greater efforts should be made to prevent people from entering illegally, deport illegal immigrants who are found...
