1. Introduction to Education
What is education? “I think an education is not only important, it is the most important thing you can do with your life.” (Dean Kamen, 1951)(www.brainyQuote.com)
Education is a very broad term that can be interpreted in an indefinite number of ways. Nonetheless despite one’s definition of education, it can be said that education does in fact have some sort of a purpose or goal.
Education encompasses teaching and learning specific skills and also something more tangible, but more profound: the imparting of knowledge, positive judgment and well developed wisdom (Wikipedia.org). According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), early childhood education spans the human life from birth to age 8, making early childhood education one of the most important foundations in any human life. Followed by Primary Education for about six or seven years, in adolescent years you would be receiving Secondary Education. Third stage is Higher Education that would be the college or university years.
Last but not least, is Adult Education. (Wikipedia.org) In fact education is the most important skill that anybody must have to succeed in life. Choosing a career in education can be overwhelming since education offers a wide range of career options. Of course you must also take into consideration; monetary remuneration, pros and cons, duties as an educator, and opportunities in today’s world. Also if it is the right career for you since it is a very consuming and demanding career.
