As it is today, the Bead Bar locations are not connected to headquarters or each other. Particularly, the Bead Bar on Board cannot connect to the organization’s network while travelling. Headquarters is presently equipped with ten desktop computers; five notebook computers and currently each location is only set-up to work with the technology developed for that specific location. If the locations are able to connect to one central hub, the organization’s productivity will increase. The locations can communicate with each other and perhaps save documents on the network directory for global access at any time of the day or night.

Daily operations of the Bead Bar are critically dependent on computer use and access. This is prevalent to the nature of business today. The Bead Bar daily operation includes processing request for supplies and totaling out consumer goods and services. The original paper filing system encountered countless human error due to the demand of keeping information updated and correct. Getting to the root of the concern, recommendations were made by consultants to purchase new computer hardware, software and database management systems. Microsoft’s Office Productivity Suite were acquired for employees to complete word processing, organizing presentations and spreadsheets. The Bead Bar operates on Oracle 9i database that is a project database management system, intended to deal with the growing needs of the Bead Bar. Over time the company will be looking forward to arranging their records accurately through a network so their database can operate at its full capability.

Recommendation Overview
In order to operate an organized business, a star topology is essential for the Bead Bar. A star topology would be beneficial for the Bead Bar as this type of networking system is capable of communicating information in a reasonable and practical manner.
