The climate change that is occurring is a real problem that we must address together. By this point, most people have come to realize and accept that global warming is in fact a real issue and the world has been abuzz with ways to alleviate the problem. From new innovative forms of clean energy to simple common sense tricks, there are a myriad of steps that we can all undertake to lessen our problem. One point of importance is the need to educate on the issue and the ways to solve it. Although the task of solving an issue that is as huge as global warming may seem impossible, people are becoming more environmentally conscious with every passing day.
Let us first discuss global warming itself and what has caused it. The main culprit has been human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels such as oil and coal. The burning produces carbon dioxide which becomes trapped in the earth’s atmosphere. Moreover, there are other gases emitted from human activities such as methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases from livestock and industrial activities( EPA). Together, these gases accumulate in the earth’s atmosphere and absorb thermal radation, which is radiated back toward the earth. This is what is causing the warming known as the greenhouse effect because of its similarity to a greenhouse warming the plants it encases. Unfortunately, the production of these greenhouse gases has been growing larger throughout the past few decades and they have a lifetime of 10 to 100 years. Burning releases 7 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide per year into the atmosphere (EPA.)
It is quite simple to understand why there has been such an increase in the amount of greenhouse gases throughout the years. In the past, industrial times produced cars and the rise of factories, both huge contributors to global warming. Furthermore, the increase in human population means more production (Climate Change.)
So what exactly does the earth’s warming mean for the world? Well, it...
