The course of evolution has led Homo sapiens to be very curious about his environment and himself. The natural tendency of men towards curiosity has been causing to keep asking questions about our surroundings and our own body. To be able to answer these questions we need observation. For better observation which would lead us to more accurate answers for our questions we need instruments and the efficiency of these instruments is dictated by the level of technology available for us. Technological advancement requires invention. This cycle has pushed man to invent things all through history and everyday that passes a new, better and stronger instrument is invented that we can make use of to seek answers to more complex, fundamental and/or unanswered questions.
The advancement of technology not only gives us the ability to make more accurate measurements and observations but also the power to alter things in order to make them work in a way we want or under control. The more inventions there are the more advanced the technology becomes thus we gain more control over our environment and our bodies. It doesn’t stop here, yet again we come across new barriers and new unknowns which make us ask more and new questions; and the cycle runs again, once more, all over.
One question that always stands (without an answer yet!) is if there is an end to this cycle. Obviously the fuel for the engine to keep this process going is human curiosity and it has been able to run the cycle with an ever-accelerating speed. But is there an end to this? Will we come across a question that we cannot possibly answer and more importantly know that we cannot answer so our curiosity can diminish? Will there be a barrier strong enough to stop human advancement and men’s quest to conquer the physical world with all its mechanism, kinetics and dynamics? Is there a last stop? This is another fundamental question man has been asking himself for sometime now.
