I decided to do my research on the terrorist organization called, Hizballah, Party of God. Hizballah was established in 1982 during the Lebanon War when a group of Lebanese Shi'ite Muslims declared themselves to be the "Party of God.” Hizballah is an Islamic movement founded after the Israeli military seizure of Lebanon in 1982, which resulted in the formation of Islamic resistance units committed to the liberation of the occupied territories and the ejection of Israeli forces. Hizballah is considered a foreign terrorist organization that originated in the country of Lebanon. Lebanon, officially known as the Lebanese Republic located in the Middle East at the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea. Syria is bordered on the north and east side and Israel is to the south.
Lebanon has a large sectarian diversity that feeds a special political system known as confessionalism. Confessionalism’s concept is means to distribute power as evenly among all of the different sects (Wikepedia, 2007).
A very important factor that developed Hizballah was the establishment of the Islamic Revolution in Iran that was led by the Imam Khomeini. Hizballah are the social radicals with the prevalent perception the "west" is of a militant, armed terrorist organization bent on abduction and murder. However, Hizballah, The Party of Gods has matured to become an important and pivotal force in Middle East politics in general and Lebanese society in particular. These values have been established by the divine religions, the clearest, and most comprehensive of which has been Islam, whether in theoretical or practical conception (Matar, 1993).
