Topic: Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.
During my first week of College Prep Institute at Spelman College , I learned so much about myself. Especially in Millicent St. Claires class and Ms. Bonnies class. Learning things such as LIGMO (Let It Go; Move On) and the best ways for me to stay focused on the SAT and ACT. Nevertheless, today I had Dr. Askew class. This was my first time in his class, but he taught my favorite subject, English. Prior to my first day in his class, many girls told me he was going to be a tough teacher so watch out. Walking in the class open-minded, I was definitely ready to find out how my first day would be.
Sitting in class quietly and patiently, Dr. Askew walks in and sits down in the front of the classroom. As he sits down, he immediately starts telling the class all his creditentials which were quite impressing. Class went by and all the girls introduced themselves and of course Dr. Askew went over a few classroom rules. Our first assignment in his class was to learn the poem Still I Rise by Maya Angelou the next day. That assignment was pretty easy to memorize and get out the way, however the second assignment he gave wasnt so easy for me. The second assignment was to write a essay on the moment in our life, when we realized learning was important.
Pondering on the topic he gave, I was clueless on where to start. I had no idea when I first learned or realized learning was important. Even though I didnt know how to answer this question, I was quite determined to dig deep and find out. Thinking back to my Kindergarten days, my Elementary days and even my Middle Schol days, for the day I realized the importance...
