Air is very important for living things to breathe. It supplies us with oxygen which is essential for our bodies to live. Human activities can release substances into the air, some of which can cause problem for humans, plants, and animals. one type of air pollution is the release of particles into the air from burning fuel for energy. Another type of pollution is the release of noxious gases, such as sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and chemical vapors.

Burning of fossil fuel such as petrol and coal will cause air pollution. Vehicles, factories and power station also release harmful gases. Air pollution also caused by deforestation and it will leading carbon dioxide increase, oxygen decrease and temperature rises. Not only vehicles, factories and power station will release harmful gases, open burning, smoke and fumes from the exhaust also will release it.

Air pollution can affect our health in many ways with both short-term and long-term effects. Examples of short-term health effects include irritation to the eyes, nose and throat, and upper respiratory infections. Long-term health effects can include lung cancer, heart diseases, and even damage to the brain, nerves, liver, or kidneys. Global warming and green house effect will cause drought. Sea level will rise and it will cause flood happens. Besides, acid rain will destroy plants and animal will die.

In many countries in the world, steps are being taken to stop the damage to our environment from air pollution. We can produce car to use less fossil fuels and use alternative fuel which is biodiesel. We also can use public transport or walk and ride bicycle. Furthermore, we need to stop open burning and practice 3R concept which are reuse, recycle, and reduce. The government should urge everyone to plant a lot of trees in order to increase oxygen in the atmosphere.
